Floral Baby Shower

A couple of weeks ago I helped throw a little baby shower for one of my dearest friends. She’s having her third baby and although she wasn’t expecting much, every new life deserves to be celebrated.

We went with a simple floral theme with yummy food, a mama-mosa bar, and a simple craft.

I was inspired by this post from Kara’s Party Ideas http://karaspartyideas.com/2016/07/boho-bubbly-baby-shower.html

Flower Wall Hanging:

I absolutely loved the idea of the flower wall hanging, but thought wouldn’t it be great if it could be hung as decor in the nursery after the shower? So I used the same concept but replaced with silk flowers found at Hobby Lobby! It was a total hit and made for such a beautiful backdrop.

Mama-Mosa Bar:

I love having a pretty and fancy drink at any party. Since this was a baby-shower we made it mama friendly by replacing the booze for some sparkling lemonade.

It was so simple to set up and everyone enjoyed their yummy creations!

Cake:

So I totally went the semi-homemade route on this one! 😉 I purchased layered cake pans from target, and just used a box cake mix! I’m a sucker for homemade cake, but there is nothing wrong with using a box cake! It is always moist, it’s fast, and delicious! I put my homemade efforts into a butter cream frosting that really elevated the look of the cake. Topped off with some beautiful flowers from Trader Joe’s, and it was done!

Flowers:

Having simple flower arrangements can add so much to an event. I spent under $20 for all of these flowers at Trader Joe’s. The key is having small vases and really filling them. I like using a variety of colors and textures to produce a high-end look.

Craft:

My friend loves to craft, so I thought it would be fun to have a small way her loved ones could add a personal touch to the nursery. I scoured pinterest looking for something that was cute, but something that was a little more controlled and designed so it would come out nice no matter what the skill/ creative level was. I found this craft from Crafternoon Delight http://craftd.blogspot.com/2013/08/baby-shower-craft-bunting.html and we customized the fabric to match the nursery!

Food:

We just had some light, but pretty food. Some bbq pork sliders with slaw, a kale salad, warm brie with pecans and cranberries, and some classic sausage, cheese, and crackers! Yum!

Just remember, the most important part of the shower is that the Mama feels loved! You can make her feel special by making her favorite cake or favorite food, playing her favorite music, or just telling her over and over just how wonderful she looks!
